Dr. Emmanuel Osei Boateng, founder of the OB Foundation and an alumnus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has donated five brand-new Lenovo laptops to support the university’s Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) initiative.

The laptops were presented to the Vice-Chancellor of KNUST as part of efforts to bridge the digital divide among students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dr. Emmanuel Osei Boateng acknowledged the challenges faced by many students and reiterated the Foundation’s commitment to supporting their education.
“I am deeply moved by this initiative and proud to contribute. I believe this gesture will make a meaningful impact on the academic journeys of the beneficiaries,” he said.

Vice-Chancellor Professor (Mrs.) Rita Akosua Dickson expressed her profound appreciation for the donation, describing it as timely and impactful.
“In this technological era, it is essential that students are equipped with the tools they need to thrive. This support will significantly influence their academic success, especially in these financially challenging times,” she said.
Professor Dickson noted that the contribution comes at a crucial time and underscored the importance of such initiatives in promoting equity and excellence in tertiary education.
The SONSOL Project, spearheaded by the Vice-Chancellor, aims to provide laptops to needy but brilliant students to enhance teaching and learning through digital access.
